Do you think it is better for people to live in a house or in an apartment?
2019年度1回(2019年6月実施) 英検準二級ライティング問題より


I think that it is better for people to live in a house. I have two reasons for this. The first reason is that living in a house is quieter than living in an apartment. Even if you try not to hear the sounds from neighborhoods in the apartment, you can still hear some things. This can cause stress. The second reason is that living in a house has less trouble with neighbors as compared living in an apartment. For example, nearby houses are farther than neighboring apartments so people living in a house can make sounds without impacting others. Therefore, I believe that it is better for people to live in a house. (114 words)

【日本語訳】
家に住む方がいいと思います。これには2つの理由があります。第一の理由は、家に住むことはアパートに住むことよりも静かであるということです。アパートの近所の音が聞こえないようにしようとしても、聞こえます。これはストレスを引き起こす可能性があります。第二の理由は、アパートに住むよりも、家に住むほうが近所の人とのトラブルが少ないということです。たとえば、近くの家は隣のアパートよりも遠いので、家に住む人は他の人に影響を与えることなく音を出すことができます。ですから、家に住む方がいいと思います。
